Change is in the air…
Webmasters always reserve the right to change their minds.
That’s why you’re seeing some drastic changes in The Gizmo Ranch. Nobody was going out of their way to use a lot of the tools on the site, so I’ve eliminated most of them. I was also getting really, really bored with just listing nothing but announcements about new devices or software on the site, so I’m going to turn this into more of a blog than anything else. I figure that if I give it a much more personal feel, I will update it more often - that’s good for you, the readers/listeners, as well as for me. And let’s face it, I can’t compete with the huge sites like Pocket PC Thoughts or Engadget - they have large budgets, many volunteer staff members and get tons of advertising.
One of the main reasons I am changing this is that my life is changing as well. My consulting business has been taking off and I just can’t afford the time to keep up a complicated website, so I’m making it simple instead. Last but not least, I’ve been having difficulties with Mambo, which is the Content Management System I was using to publish the site. I haven’t been able to post anything for the last two weeks due to some error that I can’t fix!
It will take a while to get the site completely up and running, but I do plan on having links to the old content from PDAntic.com and I’ll make sure that the podcast files are all listed here somewhere. And of course I’ll try to get SOME advertising on here - after all, something has to pay for the bandwidth and server.
Thanks for your patience while the site goes through yet another incarnation.
